The first time you press Rec there will be a longer startup delay since it initiates audio resources etc. - Can't initiate them before hand, since a permissions dialog would be shown to the user out of context (without them understanding why such a dialog appered when say they loaded a ClipFlair activity).

Next rec actions do have a smaller delay that could possibly made a bit smaller if the connection to the audio recording device is kept open, but I'm afraid that would consume resources and make slower machines' CPU very busy, plus it could lead quickly to memory leaks if there are any hidden bugs there

It's fine for me as it is now

will add action on mouse pressed event, not mouse clicked (which waits for a mouse release) sometime soon to make the delay a bit less
