ClipFlair Forums. Create discussion topics and get answers
I find forums a bit chaotic. I'd rather have threaded discussions instead. Sometimes I need to reply to a post written three pages ago.
wall supports threaded discussion instead
that can be more chaotic to follow though- even on facebook you reply at the end of a comment thread, although I recently saw somebody reply under a comment of mine in a fb comment list, but not sure if fb was testing new functionality (sometimes they roll out new features randomly to users)
what I don't like with forums now
is that it doesn't take you to discussion end page or have a better pager control and have it at the top too to easily go to end page. It could even remember which replies you've seen ang go to first new one
It's chaotic to reply to something written ten messages ago. That's why FB changed it and now lets you reply to comments.
facebook uses notifications
but you could miss a reply if it occurs higher in a thread
also what if somebody wants to reply to a reply to a comment? a screen allows not many levels of nesting
with non-threaded all new stuff in a discussion are at the end of the topic
that's why most support and user forums use that, you can visit a topic periodically and still see easily if there are new replies in it
in cliflair we stretch at materials forum because I chose to keep a few main topics and have people reply to them. However the mark as answer admin feature helps me track posts that I haven't yet acted upon
also to make it less chaotic most systems have a quote button under posts, plus their editor allows one to visually quote a pasted/selected text
sent suggestion to MonoX team for Quote/Reply button addition under each forum post:
