Hi George,

I'm modifying some activites and would llike to make a link to provide the answers to the exercices. My question is:
where can I put/save the file with the key to the exercices to link it in the instructions? Would it be possible to have a folder with the keys to the exercicies in the social within a group? If so, how can I do that?

Thanks!
Helena

Yes, you can upload the files on the wall of a group (attach them to a post) or at that group's forum and then right click the attached file (say SomeActivity_answers.clipflair) and select to "Copy shortcut" (or called Copy target URL etc. in some browsers). Then can use that shortcut to point to the answers, or go to http://tinyurl.com and make the long URL shorter and then use the short one (tinyurl even allows you to give a unique short name for the url instead of getting an autogenerated short name/number for it)

I'd avoid the work "key" and use "answers" - not all people (e.g. Greeks) may understand that key means answers (or could use "solution" or "replies" or something). Maybe we should arrange with Stavroula some more standardization on this aspect of the naming

Thank you George,

I've just tried it here: http://social.clipflair.net/MonoX/Pages/SocialNetworking/Groups/GroupView/TZRyluiBWEaRfqEEAMKMmA/Learning-Chinese/ and I cannot see the file anywhere.

I tell you what I did:
1. browse for the document (I attached a pdf)
2. wrote: Here's the answer to the exercise: zh_2_resultatius
3. post it

I cannot see the file anywhere. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong? Sorry to be so stupid with this little detail.

thanks!
Helena

see comments I added there, you have to add some text to the message to post it and also have to wait for the upload to finish first, else the text will be uploaded without attachment(s)

George,

it's me again. I can attach pdf and make links in the activities that seem to work.
Now I'd like to do the same but with a html file (this is the file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2875809/questions.htm )
I cannot upload it here so that I can link it in the activity, any suggestions as to how I can do that?

Thank you very much!
Helena

If I add a link in the ClipFlair Studio Text component with the URL above, it works fine (either with https:// [secure HTTP] or http:// protocol prefix). If you mean how you can host the .htm file here (since it's a self-contained file with no external image etc. assets), I could allow uploading .htm and .html files as attachments to the forum.

There is an issue with opening .htm/.html from untrusted sources though, since they could contain exploit Javascript code (malicious code exploiting bugs of various web browsers) to get control of one's system etc., so I'd prefer to not allow .htm/.html attachments to the forum.

So you can use Dropbox for now till somebody (maybe Thanassis PhD student?) implements some components for ClipFlair to load HotPotatoes content (get a URL of a HotPotatoes-generated page, say of a multiple choice activity or of a crossword, parse the HTML and show it with Silverlight-based User Interface). I'm interested myself to make a Crossword app to sell in the Windows Phone marketplace with HotPotatoes-import functionality, so I might implement the crossword one myself to use in Studio.

However I guess you're interested about the multiple choice activity-type, so you could ask Thanassis it his student is indeed interested (it's easier to implement I think). If he is I can provide guidance (there are also other types of HotPotatoes activities [like matching via drag-dro activity] for which separate components could be implemented for Studio with import HotPotatoes data from page URL or local file capability). Also the Java code of HotPotatoes is now opensource I think (it's authoring UI is running in Java, but it produces plain HTML+Javascript, the output doesn't need Java). What I'm suggesting is to have components that can import HotPotatoes HTML output and parse it to get the data from there (have seen their HTML output and it's not very hard)
