Dear George,
One of the changes you suggested as far as revoicing is concerned are rather urgent, from my point of view:
Muting the sound of the video while recording (automatically). That way, students can record without overlapping voices and without having to play around with the volume (I remember you mentioned it would not be difficult to make).
Any improvements regarding revoicing would be more than welcome since I think it is the component that has been tested the least and the one that can still be improved the most, so that it can be really useful in L2, as we discussed in Barcelona.
Let me know if it is possible and when could it be done, since I have 10 revoicing activities I'd like to post before July 15th and I'd love to post them with the 'muting' option (if not, I'll think of an alternative).
Best,
Noa

If students use headsets they don't have any overlapping audio of course. Usually you'd want to hear the timing of the speaker (probably set to a lower volume manually) while you speak over their voice.

What I had suggested apart from the option to Broadcast a StartTemporaryMute message when recording starts and a EndTemporaryMute when finished was to have a "Mute" flag per Caption so that I could cover the scenario suggested by partners (the Chinese-fluent ones if I remember well) where you have an interview and want to only mute the timeslots with the answers of the Interviewed person, but not the questions of the Interviewer, so that students can add revoicing with their own responses (that could be totally different). That way they wouldn't have to edit the original video to remove the audio responses of the interviewed person

Now that I've added a mechanism to store extra data per caption (apart from the audio that was already being stored) inside the .clipflair file, I will see to adding the above two functionalities (the StartTemporaryMute/EndTemporaryMute you're asking for is a prerequisite mechanism for implementing the other functionality as well so yours will have priority - sorry for not looking at it earlier, was away from my keyboard recently)

Dear George,
Are the changes ready yet?
I wanted to upload 10 revoicing activities by tomorrow and their design depends on your changes.
Thanks.

Noa

sorry, the networking mechanism I had in mind isn't good for this job since it talks to only one listener object whereas I need to broadcast messages to many. So it will need some more time to design and implement it

Just fixed a serious issue recently introduced in AudioRecorder, couldn't add new rows if the Audio column was visible in the Captions/Revoicing control (same would occur if the Comments (Audio) column was visible). This had been introduced when I had refactored the code to add support for loading/saving MP3 audio samples at AudioRecorderControl (not for encoding recorded audio though into MP3 [can only save to uncompressed WAV currently], this would need too much work and may have licensing issues [pay to Fraunhofer] since Silverlight doesn't support it out of the box).

The technical description of what was causing the issue (null argument exception error shown in ClipFlair error dialog that Stavroula just spotted) is here:
