The question I wanted to address is whether it is possible to increase the size. On the screen, the subtitles are very good, but the font size of the squares of the subtitle is too small considering that a student is writing.
Hi Lucia, I think that all you have to do is increase the zoom of the captions component (make it larger in relation to the clip component)
this way the letters look bigger and there is more space for writing.
Let me know which activity it is in case I can help
Do you mean that the zoom can be applied to only one of the components? Power zoom for subtitles only, would be the solution. If so, please tell me how.
Exactly! Select the subtitle component and use Ctrl+mouse scroll.
Alternatively, go to the back panel (options) and modify the zoom, e.g. put 1.15, or 1.25, or 1.50
And see what fits best
Great! It works!
Thanks a lot, Roula.
can also use ctrl+ left/right click to zoom in/out by steps of 0.2
if we add captions formatting in the future, not sure if user would expect WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) in the captions grid, including font size. Having unformatted captions as now with a font size option for the grid might trick users into thinking they will be setting the font to show on the video display
another reason to zoom a specific component could be to stress its importance as a central hub in your activity
Thanks for your explanation, George. It is very well thought out!
Here I have similar but different feedback. I am working with traditional Chinese, which really needs good presentation on the screen.
When I felt the font is too small, I tried to adjust the zooming ratio of the module, but I found the bar on top of the window will also enlarges, therefore taking part of the precious space on the screen.
If possible, would the designing team please consider adding the function of adjusting font size of subtitles (within the caption module only, not linked to the video) or keeping the bar on top of the windows at the same size when zooming?
BTW, the hotkey you provided is very useful. Thank you!
