Hi All,

I'm posting our first activities for English based on a clip about the Rosetta Stone.

George, there seem to be two problems:
- the clip is not opening (I've copied public link from our DB folder: http://db.tt/bpXwlmGH)
- when I open an activity in the Clipflair Studio (a file with subtitles I'd made), it first takes a while for subtitles to load, then it automatically zooms out incredibly so that you can't really see anything, and then the Studio crashes. Anything we can do about it?

Best,
Agnieszka

on my machine those 5 opened. The only things I noticed are:
1) at one of them you have made the Captions component very tall, you don't need to do that, it will show scrollbars itself for the captions grid if you make it less tall (drag it from its bottom border upwards to make it smaller).

However if you did want your user to pan arround the whole view instead you'd turn off the "zoom to fit" option at the back of the activity (you turn it arround with the wrench button on the activity titlebar), although I'd suggest for the 1st option (to make it less tall)

2) crashing at some big zoom usually means some issue with your graphics card driver (probably some bug of it, may need to update it)

I assumed its one of those 5, if other, please post here with a note to check it

btw, I noticed zoom to fit also counts the activity toolbar in the target size which isn't correct since some of the contents of the activity after zoom to fit are behind the activity toolbar and you need to pan arround to see them. Will see into fixing this ASAP

Hi George,
Thanks for this. Happy to hear the clips open on your computer. They still don't work when I open them in my Studio, and I don't quite know what I should do.
Indeed, I made the component tall, but it doesn't need to be. Could you please change it on your computer and upload the corrected version? I tried to repair it, but it crashes, so I can't do it myself. Thanks!
A.

Hi Agnieszka,
will see into changing that height

btw, there's also a manual trick one can do that I write here for anyone interested:

----
if you open a .clipflair.zip with say WinZip, then you'll notice in it exists one .clipflair.zip for each component in the activity.

It's easy to see which one is which, since they have as filename the title of the component in the activity together with a GUID (a so-called Globally Unique Identifier - a statistically unique "number").

If you open the .zip for the Captions component in your case, then you can open from inside it the ClipFlair.Windows.Views.CaptionsGridView.xml file (e.g. right-click and edit with notepad) with a text editor and edit the height value manually, then press Save in your editor and close it. (UPDATED: used to call that file options.xml in the past, but calling it with the data object classname now since I added provisioning for dynamic component code loading from a component catalogue for the future)

The ZIP software you use should then tell you that the .xml file was updated and if you want to include it in the archive. If you say Yes and then close the .zip file for the captions component, then the parent zip file (for the activity) should ask you that the captions zip file

was updated and then you say again that yes you want it to be updated inside the parent zip. Then close the parent zip and you're done.

Hi George,
Thanks for the explanation. I haven't opened the .zip files in anything else than CF Studio. If I tried to open them in the way you suggest, I would still have no idea what value I should give for the right height of the captions box...
