"Sara, thumbnails are manually created for the moment. ...
I think that George plans to have them created automatically, but he's busy with the save all audio to a single wav file at the moment. "
I added "screenshot" button to the titlebar of each component and was planning to also automatically store a thumbnail of the current view of an activity inside its .clipflair.zip file when saving it, but then when trying out the screenshot feature I was shocked to find out that due to security constraints you cannot grab image of any content that is served from other domain. Since we have studio.clipflair.net for the software and the content is served from gallery.clipflair.net and from other places (e.g. some map etc.), the get-pixels feature of Silverlight is practically useless for us when running in the browser.
only way to use it would be to install the app with elevated priviledges, but then its much harder for users to install plus we need to buy and renew every year a security certificate which is a no-no for the future life of the project
also at pivot collections I've now made for activities I use deepzoom images which need high quality source images, not thumbnails
I may make some automated way at the server to open up activities uploaded and make images itself
