I've added an RTL column to the Captions component (turn it over and check the "RTL visible" option) that allows you to change the RTL per-caption
Currently the captions don't store that RTL flag though, so they won't remember it at load (the Captions component saves a global RTL flag and shows all as either LTR or RTL now - In the future it will save/load rtl flag per caption entry)
When load/save of per-caption RTL flag will have been implemented, I'll probably make the RTL button on the captions component toolbar when switching to RTL mode (which toggles each caption entry to RTL) to also set the RTL visible to true when pressed, that is make the RTL column appear.
The RTL button on the toolbar is also useful a shortcut for quickly switching all captions to RTL or back.
I plan to look into fixing this for the Clip to show left/right text per caption entry (not per caption entry's row though, similar stands for Captions control) instead of just showing them centered ignoring the LTR/RTL orientation of the caption
that, combined with the RTL column tag will allow scenaria where one says something in English, the other replies in Arabic etc. to be captioned with correct text direction
centering of captions doesn't have to do with the string direction (they can still be centered and show LTR/RTL correctly, not just LTR as it does now in the Clip) and it can be an option added to the Clip component (Show captions centered). I guess we don't want option for Left/Right/Centered, just a boolean true/false (checkbox), since showing LTR text at the right or RTL text at the left (that is reverse than expected) would just be confusing and useless. When CaptionsCentered=false it will show the text either to the left or to the right depending on the flow direction of the text (LTR or RTL) that is
It is very cool and useful the column “RTL visible” in the Captions component that you added. Congratulations! It was annoying that caption component didn't “remember” the FTL direction.
I’m agree with when you say that we don´t want the option for Left/Right/Centered. The way you did it by true/false checkbox RTL visible as a
component option is great.
hi, it still doesn't remember it per caption but for all captions only since it saves internally as SRT which doesn't have such info, but I plan to do something about it soon
Ok, George. Thanks.
Hi Lucia, I just added storage of Comments and RTL (per caption) values, so now you can show the RTL column (using "RTL visible" at the back of captions component) and select to show some captions in LTR and some in RTL using the respective checkbox. When you save/reload it will now remember it
Note that there is a bug that forces you to use different [StartTime,EndTime] pair for each caption that has RTL=true or non-empty Comments value. Same bug exists with captions that have Audio (revoicing). Will try to fix it (it is a design issue of the way I store the Audio and the caption extradata [comments, RTL flag] per Caption in the .clipflair file)
Just added: when RTL button is pressed on Captions component toolbar, the RTL column appears if it was hidden, as is the default
the RTL column is the one that shows RTL checkbox per caption row (can also show it using the back panel of the component and select "RTL column visible").
Note that the RTL button on the toolbar toggles RTL flag for all caption rows on or off when it is pressed multiple times
