Hello,

Could you please help me?  I began working on an activity and edited it 2 or 3 times.  I got the following error message at first but then it worked.  Now it won't work at all.  Is there a way to make it open?  I've tried 3 browsers on 2 different computers.   I've included the activity file.

Hello,

I tried to make contact through email but the Captcha element does not work.  Can someone make contact with the Clipflair people to tel them their contact page inside their web does not work?

regarding Laura's older post earlier in the thread above, I think that issue has been fixed now

regarding Paul's issue, I don't see an attachment to his posts above, Paul can you try to do a reply here and press UPLOAD, then upload the activity file for me to check it out? Wait for it to upload first, then press POST to send your reply

seems the ebola.clipflair file you posted is corrupted. You can certify that by renaming it to ebola.clipflair.zip and trying to open with say WinRAR

WinRAR manages to list its contents (a .clipflair.zip file for the Clip component's saved state that shows as 0 bytes size and an .xml file with the activity's saved settings, which does seem to have some size, but WinRAR fails to extract it saying the archive is corrupt)

I will search if there's any zip salvage tool to get data out of corrupted zip files, but I see little probability of salvaging it. Did you have more components in that activity (like subtitles)?

You must have been shown an error while saving, that's why the file is corrupt. I will see if it is possible to save to a temporary file first (there are Silverlight security model restrictions that may prevent me to do that) and once the save is successful to create/replace the file you had selected. That way you wouldn't overwrite a good file with a corrupt one.

The least thing I could add is to delete such corrupt partially-saved archives in case of error, or maybe else to try to save only the components that don't fail in case of error instead of aborting the save operation upon the first error

it would be useful if you can reproduce this error and open the Details in the error dialog and press Copy there to then copy-paste here the error message you were getting upon save (and also if you can write down the steps you had taken in the 1st place to create the activity that fails to save, plus post the media assets like videos and captions that are used).

in such cases you can try to save separately each component as a template, so that you can remake your activity later, you can turn them over by using the wrench button on their titlebar and pressing the SAVE button on their back side (they flip when you use the wrench to show their settings). If you see that some component can't save, just skip it and then try removing it from your activity and saving the activity again. Then try to add that component again, configure it (say load a video if it's a Clip component) and save to other activity file to see if it then saves ok

Hello George,

I didn't get an error when  saved the file but this isn't the first time I've received this message and was unable to open a file.  It's the same message I got when trying to open and image within an activity file.

This activity was a 2 minute video from the BBC, taken from YouTube + subtitles + a map image.

Whatever you can save would be great but the subtitles are the most important element.

What do you mean when you say "when trying to open an image within an activity file"? Did you try to drag-drop an image inside the activity? .PNG and .JPG files are supported. Also maybe next time you can grab a screenshot (if there is an error dialog open you can open the details of it first). Thanks in advance for any help to pinpoint this issue

I tried ZipRepair from http://www.diskinternals.com/download/ but wasn't very successful (although it listed more contents from the archive). Could only get the .xml settings files from the components (some of them). Found it from http://www.techradar.com/news/software/how-to-repair-a-broken-zip-file-986146 and was the only free tool there, although it didn't have a good rating. Maybe the other tools there have limited time trials that allow you to salvage some part of the file. Will try some more of them too (it's a two page article btw).

The map comes from the web, so it just stores an .xml file in the .clipflair.zip file that corresponds to the map component (each component saves a .clipflair.zip inside the activity's .clipflair file [which can also be renamed to .clipflair.zip and used in ClipFlair Studio, but we name it just .clipflair because Mac has issues with double file extensions in the file picker dialog when using Silverlight])
